FROM THE OFFICE

The rain that fell so wonderfully this past week reminded me of the following quote: “Without rain nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storms of your life.” Anonymous.

We, however, hope that the rain will give us the opportunity to complete the swimming gala tomorrow afternoon, as well as the Cluster meeting on Monday. Good luck to our swimmers and athletes.

We encourage our learners to join the winter sports program next week, as well as to sign up for the Cultural Festival.

We wish you a blessed week.

YADAH

This week we pray for the Grade 6s. We ask God to bless them with a wonderful year, filled with personal growth, loads of fun, new adventures and good friends.

CHOC FLIP FLOP DAY

This year we would like to continue building on the Valentine’s Day tradition started at the school.

As a primary school, we believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated appropriately by the children at their age level. We would much rather teach them about caring for people who need support, acceptance, and help.

When they cherish, help and support others, this also creates a feeling of joy and fulfilment.

So, this year, we are again going to do something special that is focused on the idea that love for our fellow man is not only a commandment from God, but also wonderful and fun!

We are scheduled to support the CHOC Foundation’s Flip Flop Day with blue bows in our hair and comfortable flip flops on our feet!

The CHOC Flip Flop Day stickers, which will free your 10 toes from school shoes on Friday, 17 February, are being sold at R10 at Tuck In. Buy your cute flip flop biscuits too. Payments must please be made in cash.

PLEASE NOTE: No socks, CROCS, etc. Only flip flops without socks and normal school uniform will be allowed.

CULTURAL FESTIVAL INFORMATION 2023

We are pleased to announce that our annual Cultural Festival will soon be in full swing. Cultural Festival entries open on 20 February 2023.

This year the theme is “It begins with us”. Many of the sections require this theme to be depicted, so please ensure that you are aware of the requirements of each section.

Mass participation is a priority and we encourage each learner to participate in at least one item.

Entry fees will only be paid for Crafts, Flavour Festival, Flavour Festival – Masterclass, and Leading Ladies.

The judges’ decision is final. Please guide your child in the selection and practising of items. You are welcome to coach your child.

Please note: The staff are in charge of various sections but are not responsible for practising with the learners. To ensure confidence, please encourage your child to be well prepared.

Marks are awarded for participation. These participation marks, as well as the symbols achieved during their performance, are combined and calculated to determine the best overall cultural learners. The winners will be announced at our Sport and Cultural Gala Evening.

Please note the restrictions involved in the different sections and bear in mind that some of these items will take place on the same day.

No late entries will be accepted. The closing date for entries is 3 March 2023.

All learners from our school may participate in and attend the festival as spectators during the afternoon. However, no learners from other schools are allowed to participate in our Cultural Festival.

HOW TO ENTER:
The Parent Portal must be used to enter all items.

PERFORMANCE

Boek Buddies will visit our school on Monday, 20 February. Professional actors will perform extracts from various books in an interesting and energetic way to stimulate the Grade 1 – 6 learners’ interest in books. In this way the learners are encouraged to read the books themselves.
