FROM THE OFFICE

And maybe today is the start of something. Maybe just by you waking up this morning you have set in motion a series of beautifully complicated miracles. – Anon

Our Midstream Family welcomes Ms. Chandré Engelbrecht to the English Department and Ms Megan de Beer as a new teaching assistant in the foundation phase.  We wish them a speedy transition into our school and wish them well in this new phase of their lives and believe that Midstream College will creep into their hearts as it has with all our staff.

After the past long weekend, we are excited and ready for the busy term ahead. All the best to all our learners with their academic, sport and cultural activities.

Being a mother changes the landscape of your heart forever. Enjoy a happy and blessed Mother’s Day.
We dedicate "The First" by Tawna Knight to our mothers.

MASKS

The health of our learners and teachers will always remain the highest priority at Midstream. We therefore draw your attention to the fact that for the short term we stand by our current arrangement that masks must still be worn in classes and between periods. During break and outside in the afternoons, masks are not required. The same applies if you come and watch sport – no masks needed. The Department of Education should soon publish their new regulations which we will then take into consideration regarding the wearing of masks.

OUTREACH PROJECT – GET INVOLVED!

It’s time to get your winter wardrobe ready and throw out what you no longer need! Should you wish to get involved in the Winter Jacket Project with Doxa Deo, please send all the warm jackets that no longer fit your requirements to school. During May we will collect jackets, jerseys and coats to donate to people in our surrounding areas, including Olifantsfontein and Tembisa.

Important: Write a blessing, prayer or message of hope on a piece of paper and put it in the jacket pocket. The person who receives the jacket, will then also receive your special message.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Learners may choose to wear their summer uniform or winter uniform at the moment. Please note that a learner must wear their full summer uniform or their full winter uniform. Winter and summer uniforms may not be mixed. Sport clothing/tracksuits may only be worn on the days a learner has P.E. or is participating in a sporting activity directly after school.

SPORT PRACTICE ARRANGEMENT ON A RAINY DAY

Should we experience a rainy day, sport practice for that afternoon will not be cancelled. If the children are not able to practice on the fields or courts, coaches will work with the learners in a classroom going through drills and team talks. We trust that this will alleviate the unnecessary pressure placed on you as parents to make arrangements to collect your child earlier on a rainy day.

MIDSTREAM CARES – BE INVOLVED!

Each year, Midstream College Primary School reaches out to families in need by providing basic non-perishable food and other household items.

Together with KSM, we want to distribute food optimally and effectively to families in need. Food bags are filled by Midstream families every month and delivered to the school, whereafter they are handed over to KSM for distribution. Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor bags during the year by paying the amount per bag directly into the church’s account each month.

This is an easy way to get involved in charity work and include your children in a caring project.

Please see the pamphlet for further information.
