Newsletter 9                                                                4 March 2021

FROM THE OFFICE

My sincere congratulations to our Grade 5 – 7 (Grade 4 – 6, 2020) recipients of academic awards for their hard work during 2020! Our learners persevered and were committed to achieving their best. We also thank you, as parents, for your ongoing support. You all deserve an award too. As a result of the joint effort between teachers and parents, our learners were able to achieve great success. We are proud of each one of you! I am sure that with the regular school attendance this year, 2021 promises to be positive for each learner! Children individuals and excel in so many different areas. It is with great hope and anticipation that we welcome sport back to our curriculum, thus enabling us to empower so many more children to reach their full potential.

SPORT PRACTICES

Learners must please remember to bring their own water bottles to practices to comply with COVID-19 protocol. Please also remember to apply sunscreen before practices.

Please note: Parents will still not be allowed on the premises according to COVID-protocol.

TRAFFIC CORNCERNS

The school acknowledges that there is a concern with the traffic flow before and after school. The directors and senior management are investigating the matter and it has been referred to traffic engineers which will ultimately result in changes being made.

From Tuesday, 2 March the school closing times will be as follows:
13:15 – school closes for gr. 1s & 2s
13:30 – school closes for gr. 3s, 4s & 5s
13:40 – school closes for gr. 6s & 7s
13:50 – school closes for gr. 8s & 9s
14:00 – school closes for gr. 10s, 11s & 12s

Please assist us in alleviating the traffic congestion by adhering to the allocated times, obeying the traffic rules and being patient.

Please do not park in the High School parking if you are only collecting primary school children.

HOMEWORK

Learners in the Intersen Phase write their homework in their homework diaries, however, homework is also available on the student portal. Parents are requested to assist their children to check the student portal daily.

FOOD BAG PROJECT

Each year, Midstream College Primary School reaches out to families in need by providing basic non-perishable food and other household items. Together with KSM, we want to distribute food optimally and effectively to families in need. Food bags are filled by families every month and delivered to the school, whereafter they are handed over to KSM for distribution. Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor one or more (10 in total) bags during the year by paying the amount per bag directly into the church’s account each month. This is an easy way to get involved in charity work and involve your children in a caring project.

Please see the pamphlet for further information.
