FROM THE OFFICE

The time has arrived for our learners to rest and be thankful. I would like to thank our learners and teachers for their hard work this term, a term when we returned with gratitude to the sports field and resumed our cultural activities while following strict protocols.
 
I wish our learners, parents and teachers a lovely holiday. Please take care. Refresh and renew yourself, your body and your spirit. Eat well, rest, exercise, make time to reflect and prepare yourself for Term 4.

 

HEAD LEADERS

Congratulations to the following learners who were announced as head leaders:
Head boy: Aleksey Gordon
Head girl: Mari Roos
Deputy head boys: Paul Loubser and James Peattie
Deputy head girls: Kashvi Chathury and Emma Steyn.

 

SCHOOL FEES FOR 2022

We would like to advise you that the Directors have increased the school fees by 5% for Grade 4 to 7 learners and a 0% increase for the Grade 1 to 3 learners.

The school fees for 2022 are as follows:

Grade 1 learners amount to R64 470.00 per year or R5 861.00 per month for eleven months.

Grade 2 learners amount to R64 470.00 per year or R6 447.00 per month for ten months.

Grade 3 learners amount to R67 050.00 per year or R6 705.00 per month for ten months.

Grade 4 to 7 learners amount to R70 402.50 per year or R7 040.25 per month for ten months.

We remind you that in the event of a learner leaving the school, the deposit is only refundable if you have given one term’s written notice.

 

FINAL PHOTO DAY 12 OCTOBER

Our final Photo Day for individual photos and primary school sibling photos will take place on Tuesday, 12 October. Only individual photos of learners who were not able to attend our first two photo days, will be taken. The photos will be taken in full summer uniform with a blazer – no winter uniform. Please send your child’s register teacher a reminder if your child’s photo should be taken on 12 October. The same arrangement will apply for the primary school sibling photos.

 

REPORTS

Please note that this term your child will receive an outcomes-based mark for Sepedi. The mark will not  count towards the final average reflected on the reports.

The outcomes-based levels are as follows:
90-100% : 7 – Outstanding achievement
80-89% : 6 – Meritorious achievement
70-79% : 5 – Substantial achievement
60-69% : 4 – Achieved
50-59% : 3 – Partially achieved
40-49% : 2 – Almost achieved
  0-39% : 1 – Not achieved

The reports will be available on the Parent Portal from 12:00.

 

PARENTS' AFTERNOON

Please note that the last Parents’ Afternoon will be held on Monday, 18 October. More information will be provided in the first newsletter next term.

 

BIBLE SOCIETY OF SOUTH AFRICA

We would like to thank each learner who returned the Bible roll. Your selfless contribution will help to ensure that quite a few of the 2 million Bibles that the Bible Society of SA wants to distribute are made available and in this way, the seed of hope will be spread.

 

SWIMMING TRIALS (U8 – U13) - TERM 4

Friendly relay galas, for the U8 – U13 swimmers, will take place during Term 4. Swimming trials will take place on Monday, 11 October and Tuesday, 12 October. Swimmers must please choose one afternoon and attend the full hour-long session.

EQUESTRIAN

We would like to congratulate the following riders on their selection for the Gauteng Equestrian team. They will compete at Nationals during the holidays from 6 – 9 October 2021.

– Angelique Lombard: Working Riding and Performance Riding
– Andréa Kok: Working Riding, Performance Riding and Dressage.

 

SENIOR HOCKEY (GRADE 4 – 7)

We are very excited that our hockey season will continue into Term 4. Practices will commence on 12 October and continue until 30 October. Some matches will also take place next term and we would like to encourage all players to attend practices.

 

MJ19 HOCKEY ACADEMY

Midstream College is very fortunate to have partnered with Michelle Joubert, International Hockey umpire to host the MJ19 Hockey Academy every Saturday at the Midstream Astro. Her academy caters for a variety of age groups and continues throughout the year. Feel free to contact her for more information.
