At Midstream College Primary School we experienced a blessed week last week, where we emphasized gratitude.

Thank you to all our parents who attended appointments with staff members during our Parents’ Evening on Monday. Unfortunately, we experienced a gremlin with the last appointments. Thank you for your support and understanding in this regard. As staff, we are here to join hands with you and to make a difference in the life of each learner. We understand that the uncertainties and changes experienced during the past year have presented our learners with new challenges. Once again, I would like to invite you to make an appointment with a teacher if you are concerned about any aspect of your child’s school life.

WORLD BOOK DAY AND CHARACTER DAY

Celebrate ‘World Book Day’ on Friday, 23 April by reading an exciting book.

Please take note that the ‘Character Day’ has been moved to Friday, 2 July. Details will be sent out closer to the time.

GR. 4 – 7 ACADEMICS: A ‘NEXT LEVEL’ DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE THINGS EASIER

In future, a scheduled assessment document will be sent out each term. This document will contain details of all the assessments/tests that learners need to prepare for in all subjects. Class assessments that don’t require formal preparation, won’t be included in this document.

AFRIKAANS EXTRA LESSONS

The format of the extra lessons will change this term. Classes will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 13:50–14:30. Venues for the classes have been posted outside Ms. E. van der Merwe, C. Kruger, V. Piekaar and C. de Villiers’s classrooms.

Please take note of the dates for the different grades:

Tuesday: Grade 6 & 7 Huistaal en Addisionele Taal
Wednesday: Grade 4 & 5 Huistaal en Addisionele Taal

GOLF 2021

We would like to give our learners the opportunity to play golf with their friends on Tuesdays. Learners who are therefore able to play nine holes on their own, are welcome to join the golfers on Tuesdays where they will be able to play nine holes under supervision. This arrangement will start on 4 May and will continue until 15 June 2021. Players must report to the Golf Course at 14:00. To adhere to the Covid 19 regulations, we need to compile a list of the learners who are interested in playing golf on Tuesdays. Therefore, please send Mr. Kotze an email with your child’s name, surname and grade. THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT COACHING SESSIONS but provide learners, who can already play, an opportunity to play. CROSS COUNTRY PRE-SEASON (TERM 2)

The second race of the AGN Cross Country Club season will take place this Saturday, 24 April. All learners are welcome to participate.

There is very important information regarding the Term 2 Cross Country races on the school’s website. Please read through it carefully.

The practice sessions for all learners are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14:00–15:00.
There will be no practice sessions on Wednesdays.

BULLETJIE RUGBY INFORMATION EVENING

We are very excited that the Bulletjie rugby players are back in full swing. We invite all our parents to attend our information evening on Wednesday, 28 April 2021 at 18:00 in the Auditorium.

CHORAL VERSE

Choral Verse is an extramural activity which is open to everyone from Grade 1 to 7. There is no audition process and everyone who wishes to participate is welcome.

Choral Verse 2021 will start on Wednesday, 28 April. Practices will take place at the following times:

15:00–15:30 Junior Choral Verse Grade 1 – 3 (Mrs Janse van Rensburg’s classroom)
15:30–16:15 Senior Choral Verse Grade 4 – 7 (Hall)

Children not walking or riding their bicycles home, are please to be collected from Gate 1 after practice.

GRADE 8 ADMISSIONS 2022

Grade 8 admissions for 2022 will be open until Friday, 30 April 2021. If you would like your child to attend Midstream College, kindly note that you have to complete the application form online.
