FROM THE OFFICE

Memories give our learners a portal to something that has gone and that they cannot get back, but which made a big impression on their lives. My biggest wish is to create beautiful memories for our learners: “Laugh often – Dream big – Reach for the stars."

Memories are special moments that tell our story. Our Grade 1 learners’ ‘Primary School Story’ started 40 days ago and we would like to create a special moment for them. Their memories of their first few days at our school play a big role in their lives. “A special moment may last but a second... Yet the memory can live on forever.”

CROSSING THE BRIDGE CEREMONY – GRADE 1

40 days is a significant time in a Grade 12’s year as it marks the coming to an end of a school career. Our Grade 1 learners will not be aware of this, but next week Tuesday, 16 March, is a special day for each Midstream College Grade 1 learner. This date marks their first 40 days in ‘Big School’. Midstream College has a tradition whereby our Grade 1 learners “cross the bridge” to signify that they are part of the Midstream College family.

A special Assembly will be held on Tuesday, 16 March. Each Grade 1 learner will be called to the stage and they will walk across the Midstream bridge. They will receive a token of recognition that can be treasured to remember this special day in their lives.

Due to Covid-19 protocols, no parents will be able to physically attend this ceremony. We shall, however, record the ceremony and send the link to you in the afternoon, whereby you can enjoy and celebrate this special occasion in the comfort of your home.

Congratulations to our Grade 1 learners, we are proud of you.

MINI-NETBALL CLINICS

Tuesday 16 March      U8s from 13:30 to 15:30.
Thursday 18 March     U9s from 14:00 to 16:30.

SWIMMING

The Intra-school Gala will take place on Tuesday, 23 March at the school’s swimming pool from 14:30. Swimmers will receive an invitation to take part in this gala. According to COVID regulations, no parents and spectators are allowed to attend the gala.

CHESS

We are excited to get our chess practices started again.
Anyone can join, so feel free to come along.

Chess practices take place every Tuesday in Mr Mark Bailey’s class.

The Grade 1 – 3 session will be from 14:00 – 14:45.
The Grade 4 – 7 session will be from 14:45 – 15:45.

CREATIVE AND FUN HOLIDAY CLUB

A holiday club for Grade 1 to 7 learners will be presented at the school from 29 March to 1 April.

SECOND-HAND CLOTHING SHOP

For second-hand school clothing, textbooks and sportswear, contact Hestha on 082 520 0478. During school terms, the shop is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 07:00 – 08:00. Alternative days and times when the shop is open are also available on the WhatsApp profile photo.

GRADE 8 ADMISSIONS 2022

Grade 8 admissions for 2022 will be open until Friday, 30 April 2021. If you would like your child to attend Midstream College, kindly note that you have to complete the application form online.

FOOD BAG PROJECT

Each year, Midstream College Primary School reaches out to families in need by providing basic non-perishable food and other household items. Together with KSM, we want to distribute food optimally and effectively to families in need. Food bags are filled by families every month and delivered to the school, whereafter they are handed over to KSM for distribution. Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor one or more (10 in total) bags during the year by paying the amount per bag directly into the church’s account each month. This is an easy way to get involved in charity work and involve your children in a caring project.
