Newsletter 39                                                         4 December 2019

Important dates

Saying goodbye to a special teacher like Susan Small is always difficult, and words never seem to be enough. We wish her many blessings and much happiness in her personal life, her career and her new leadership position. Rest assured that you will be missed.

We wish Natascha Kollmann, who took such good care of our sick learners and quickly crept into our hearts, all the best and happiness in her new, exciting career.

At the end of the 2019 academic year, we want to cheer and celebrate. We conclude a year featuring many successes and highlights with gratitude to our Heavenly Father. The contribution of each learner and teacher is sincerely appreciated. We would also like to thank our parents for their continued, loyal support.
To the Grade 7 learners who are ending their primary school career: Spread your wings next year and live life to the fullest. We wish you luck, prosperity and success.

May the joy and peace of the festive season be with each Midstream family, now and throughout 2020.

Swimming practice starts on 6 January 2020 for all U8 - U13 swimmers.  Practice will take place on Mondays to Thursdays from 14:00 - 15:00 in the school pool.

Please note that athletics training for 2020 will start on 15 January 2020 (the day that school reopens). The practice will serve as trials for the Inter-house athletics team. The Inter-house athletics meeting will take place on Friday,
17 January. All information (practice times and programme) will be placed on the website.

As in the past, the Science textbooks (Science Dissected) are ordered directly from the publishers by the school in order to eliminate the middle man and keep the costs lower. It is the school’s own textbook and can unfortunately not be purchased from another publisher. For this reason, you were not able to order this textbook from MC Primary Bookshop. An amount of R220-00 for a Grade 4 to 7 science textbook will be debited to your February 2020 statement.

The Technology Department has decided to make 2020 easier for parents by putting together a pack for Grade 4 learners, which will include the following:

• Textbook (Technology Dissected)
• An A4 box containing requirements for various projects for the year.
• The box will be sent home at the end of each term so that the requirements for the next term can be
packed, and must then be sent back to school at the start of the new term. In this way, the logistics
surrounding the products that need to be purchased when tasks/projects are done, will be simplified.
• The following will not be included in the box: glue, glue guns and the ingredients for food technology
(Term 4). More information will be provided at a later stage by your child’s Technology teacher regarding
glue, glue guns and the ingredients for food technology.

The cost per package will amount to R145-00 per learner and will be debited to your account at the end of January 2020.

“Generosity is the most natural outward expression of an inner attitude of compassion and loving-kindness.” – Dalai Lama

We want to thank our generous Midstream families for their contributions during our Reverse Advent Calendar project. We stand in awe and feel humbled by the way our parents and children embraced this project. Our Ground Staff will not only be spoiled with numerous groceries and toiletries, but they will also feel the love and kindness of our community. The Christmas cards our children made are really special! The blessings and words of gratitude expressed in the cards will definitely bring joy to whoever reads them. Once again, our Midstream community proved themselves to be compassionate, generous and kind.
There are not enough words to express our gratitude.

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – John Bunyan
