FROM THE OFFICE

On 17 January 2023 we celebrated the 17th Birthday of our Amazing school, Midstream College Primary. We’ve been blessed with so many great and amazing opportunities over the years. We are thankful to God for the blessings bestowed upon our brilliant school, that we are so proud of. We wish our school all the best and wish MCP many more awesome years filled with positive moments and abundant mercy.

Thank you to all our parents who attended our Grade 1 Athletics Qualifiers and our Inter-house Athletics meeting last week. We are so proud of all our learners who participated and did their best.

All the best to our learners as they participate in athletics meetings, swimming galas, competitions, and various cultural auditions.

MATRIC RESULTS

Once again, it is with great pleasure that we share our school’s matric results with you in the following link. We would like to congratulate the learners as well as their parents and educators. What a pleasure it is to be part of such a high achieving school!

GR. 4 – 7 ACADEMICS: SCHEDULED ASSESSMENT

Please find a scheduled assessment per grade below. This document contains details of all the assessments/tests that learners need to prepare for in all subjects. Class assessments that don’t require formal preparation, are not included in this document.

SENIOR CHOIR

Choir practices will take place on Tuesday afternoons, from 15:00 – 17:00, in the school hall. Learners in Grades 4 – 7 who would like to join the Senior Choir, must write their names on the list outside Mrs Badenhorst’s classroom. Choir auditions will take place in Mrs Badenhorst’s classroom from 14:00 – 15:30 on Tuesday, 24 and Tuesday, 31 January.  Learners who were members of the 2022 Senior or Junior Choir do not need to attend auditions but are welcome to join the 2023 Senior Choir as from 7 February.

CHESS TRIALS

We invite all children interested in chess to take part in the Chess team trials. The trials will start on Tuesday, 24 January.
There will be trial matches every Tuesday afternoon this term, during the usual practice times.

Points earned in the trial matches will be calculated at the end of the term to determine which learners have made it into their respective teams. All learners are welcome to take part in the trials and practices will remain open to all learners as well.

LOCKERS

Lockers are available for all Grade 4 to 7 learners that apply for a locker. Once all the lockers have been allocated to these learners, Grade 3 learners will then also be given the opportunity to apply for a locker. The application for lockers will close on Friday, 20 January 2023. Lockers will be allocated to the learners on Monday, 23 January 2023. Please use one of the following links to apply for a locker:

JUNIOR REVUE

The Junior Revue auditions will be held on Monday, 23 January from 14:00 to 15:30 for Grade 2 learners and from 15:30 to 17:00 for Grade 3 learners. Your child is required to learn a dance before he/she attends the audition. Please follow the link below to view the dance tutorial as this is the dance that they must be able to do during the audition.

SENIOR REVUE

The Senior Revue auditions will take place on Tuesday, 24 January for the Grade 6 and 7 girls, on Wednesday, 25 January for the Grade 4 and 5 girls, and on Thursday, 26 January for Grade 4 to 7 boys. ALL learners who would like to attend the auditions must book a timeslot for their audition. Please click on the link below to book a timeslot.

Your child must learn a dance before he/she attends the audition. Please follow the link below to view the dance tutorial. This is the dance they must be able to do during the audition.

GOLF 2023

The school would like to give our learners the opportunity to play golf with their friends on Tuesdays. Learners who are therefore able to play nine holes on their own, are welcome to join the golfers on Tuesdays where they will be able to play nine holes under supervision. This arrangement will start on 31 January and will continue until 7 March 2023. Players must report to the Golf Course at 14:00.

THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT COACHING SESSIONS but provide learners, who can already play, an opportunity to play. For further information, please contact Mr. Kotze on (012) 661 0724 or email schalkk@midstreamcollege.co.za. (Cost: R60-00 per player per afternoon.) These games will be used as trials to determine our golf teams for the fourth term. All players need to attend a minimum of two of these sessions in order to be considered for the school team. Please contact Mr Kotze in person if this is not possible.

MIDSTREAM WRESTLING

Midstream Wrestling will be hosting an open day on Saturday, 21 January at the Midstream Club Centre, Madeleine and Chorges Street, Midstream. MUSIC STUDIO

The past year has been a very successful year in the Music department, with winners in different categories at various competitions. We have talented, professional musicians offering music lessons. Students attend 30 lessons per year with the payment thereof divided into 4 instalments. The lessons are 30 minutes per week and the music lessons are attended at the Midstream College studios. Music lessons take place in school hours during non-academic periods such as: L.O., Music, and Art, as well as after school.
