We trust that you spent a blessed and restful long weekend with your loved ones. We are so proud of our U11 tennis teams that participated in the Wheelie Limodo Tennis Tournament in Bethlehem over the long weekend where they were very successful. All the best to all our sports teams and cultural activities/groups with a very busy programme ahead.

DONATE YOUR SENSORY BOARD

We have been astounded with the wonderful talented children at Midstream! The Grade 6s recently built sensory boards as part of their technology project. We would like to save these wonderful projects from gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere. The Grade 6s are welcome to gift these projects to the school, as we would love to donate the sensory boards to various institutions where disadvantaged children can benefit from them.

If your Grade 6 child’s sensory board is still in good condition and you would like to make a difference in an under-privileged child’s life, please send it to Mrs. Piekaar’s or Mrs. De Villiers’s classrooms.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

At this stage of the year, learners may choose to wear their summer uniform or winter uniform. Please note that a learner must wear their full summer uniform or their full winter uniform. Winter and summer uniforms may therefore not be mixed.

SQUASH - COUNTRY SCHOOLS’ FESTIVAL

André Coetzee has been selected to represent the province at the Country Schools’ Festival in Bloemfontein this coming weekend. He will compete against teams from smaller provinces and thereby earn semi-provincial colours.

ANOK SCHOOL NEWSPAPER REMINDER!

Become part of the exciting editorial team of our school newspaper, ANOK!

If you are interested in becoming part of ANOK, you need to do the following:

1. Write a school-related article of not less than 250 words. (Arial font, size 12, 1.5 line spacing)
2. Your article must have a heading with your name, surname, and grade below the heading.
3. Take a high-quality photograph that is applicable to your article and make a video to accompany your
     article.
4. The above needs to be sent to Ms. V. Piekaar by Wednesday, 31 May. (anok@midstreamcollege.co.za) 5. You are welcome to contact Ms. Piekaar (vickyp@midstreamcollege.co.za) for more information if you are unsure of anything.

GOLF 2023

The school would like to give our learners the opportunity to play golf with their friends on Tuesdays. Learners who are therefore able to play nine holes on their own, are welcome to join the golfers on Tuesdays where they will be able to play under supervision. This arrangement will start on 9 May and will continue until 6 June 2023. Players must report to the Golf Course at 14:00.
THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT COACHING SESSIONS but provide learners, who can already play, an opportunity to play. For further information, please contact Mr. Kotze on (012) 661 0724 or email schalkk@midstreamcollege.co.za. (Cost: R60-00 per player per afternoon)

FOOD BAG PROJECT
MIDSTREAM CARE - GETS INVOLVED

Each year, Midstream College Primary School reaches out to families in need by providing basic non-perishable food and other household items.

Together with KSM, we would like to distribute food optimally and effectively to families in need. Food bags are filled by Midstream families every month and delivered to the school, whereafter they are handed over to KSM for distribution. Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor bags during the year by paying the amount per bag directly into the church’s account each month.

This is an easy way to get involved in charity work and involve your children in a caring project. If you wish to support this project, please follow the link below.

YADAH

When: Every Tuesday
Time: 14:00 – 15:00
Place: Mrs Carina de Villiers’s classroom (Block 4, on the top floor)

The Yadah is an extracurricular activity that falls under the cultural umbrella and will therefore also form part of the Big Brag at the end of the year. This group aims to create a safe, happy place for all learners (Grades 1 – 7) where they can learn more about God, praise and worship Him and be actively involved in outreach projects.

Each “session” will consist of the following:
• Message from the Bible
• Praise and worship God through song
• Practical aspects of a project / game / fun activities.

Yadah means to praise God with outstretched hands. We want to honour God by taking action and helping through projects that will truly make a difference in the lives of others.

If your child would like to get involved in Yadah, send him / her along every Tuesday at 14:00.
