FROM THE OFFICE

We started the school year and term off on a high note with all our summer sport and cultural activities in full swing again. It has been heart-warming to see the number of parents and grandparents supporting the children next to the swimming pool, sports fields and various venues where cultural activities have taken place.

A new academic year also brings about new learning experiences in a new grade for each child. Walking around the school during the day and popping into classes gives me great joy to observe the happy faces in a class as they embrace our stimulating learning programme.

At the end of a term, there have been countless highlights and successes, which can only be achieved through hard work. Thank you to each learner for striving to give of his or her best. Our best wishes accompany our learners who are participating in netball and rugby tours during the holidays. Travel safely, make the most of each moment, develop your sporting talents further and keep Midstream’s name high.

Sadly, at the end of a term, we also need to say farewell to one of our staff members. Mrs Valme Strydom started her teaching career as a Teaching Assistant in the Foundation Phase and quickly made her mark as a dedicated and caring teacher. She has been part of the Afrikaans department for the past two years. We will miss her dynamic Afrikaans lessons, expertise coaching on the sports field and her caring nature towards each learner. We wish her well as she embarks on a new career path.

It is with a very sad heart that we announce that Heidrun Conradie, (one of our Learn to Swim coaches) who has been a part of our Midstream Family for many years, passed away peacefully on Friday, 10 March 2023. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her daughters and family at this very sad time. We will always treasure her enthusiasm and love she shared with each of our learners next to the swimming pool.

As we enter into the holiday season, may Easter be a special time for each Midstream family as we are reminded of God’s love and promise for us. Enjoy the holidays, spend quality time together as a family, and recharge your batteries.

We look forward to returning to school on 12 April and tackling Term 2 with the same enthusiasm and hard work.

YADAH

This week we pray for the Grade 2s. We pray that God will encourage each child to know His word and to grow in faith each day.
We pray that they will know and believe what God says they are: “treasured, delightful, known and protected”. May our Grade 2s be friends that build others up and friends that influence their peers for good. Please help them to be a light in the dark world.

SOUTH AFRICAN ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP

SOAP BOX DERBY

The Soap Box Derby will take place on Friday, 17 March during school hours.
School closes at 12:00.
Learners must wear their PE clothing.
Remember to apply sunblock and wear your school hat.
Bring along water and a lunchbox.

GRADE 8 ADMISSIONS 2024

Grade 8 admissions for 2024 will be open until Friday, 28 April 2023. If you would like your child to attend Midstream College, kindly note that you have to complete the application form online.
