Newsletter 1                                                               12 January 2023

FROM THE OFFICE
We remember all the good memories from 2022 with fondness and wish each learner, parent, and teacher 12 blessed months during 2023, filled with happiness, joy, achievements, and success.

Don’t let the entire staircase overwhelm you.
Just focus on that first step. – LifeRhino

We welcome and appreciate our parents’ positive energy and commitment to excellence in education and we, again, look forward to working together with our parents and learners this year. Our dedicated staff members are ready for the new school year.

To our new parents: We are ecstatic that you have joined our wonderful, caring learning community. We wish you much happiness at our school.

We would like to welcome Mrs Vasinthee Naidoo and Mr Rico Ferreira in the Mathematics department, Ms Sunel Swart in the Science department, and Anike van Rijswijk as an assistant.

ATHLETICS INFORMATION

Please click on the link below for more information regarding athletics practices and other information relating to athletics.

With the athletics season fast approaching, we would like to bring the following arrangements to your attention which we have introduced to improve the effectiveness of communication between the school and parents.

We have created three WhatsApp groups that parents are encouraged to join, where all the athletics information will be shared. These groups have been created for specific grades and we request that parents only join the group that is applicable to their child. This year, we will not hand out any printed copies of letters to the athletes who have qualified for the team. We have replaced the letters with the following procedures:

• Information regarding the current week’s athletics meeting, the team list for the athletics meeting as well as the relevant programme will be posted on the WhatsApp group.

All involved parents will be able to see which events their child is participating in and the time thereof.

We trust that these steps will help improve communication between the school and parents.

SCIENCE TEXTBOOKS

As in the past, the Science textbooks (Science Dissected) are ordered directly from the publishers, by the school, in order to eliminate the middleman and keep costs lower. It is the school’s own textbook and can unfortunately not be purchased from another publisher. For this reason, you were not able to order this textbook from MC Primary Bookshop. An amount of R230-00 for Grade 4 to 7 Science textbooks will be levied to your February 2023 account.

TECHNOLOGY
The Technology department welcomes you back and wishes you a successful 2023.

The textbook for this year will be distributed in class and will be invoiced to your school account at the end of February.

The price of the textbooks for Grade 4 – 6 is R110-00 and the Grade 7 textbook’s price is R234-00. Please see the order form and information pertaining to the materials needed for practical projects for the year. These materials can be purchased directly from Eventology. You may, however, also purchase them elsewhere.

Should you wish to order from Eventology, the order, payment, and collection thereof must be done through Eventology directly. Remember to indicate only the items you need on the list and submit this to Eventology. They will then pack your order – which may take up to a week – and notify you regarding collection. Unfortunately, the school will not administer this process.

Follow the links below on the icons to access the order form for each grade.

MUSIC STUDIO

The past year has been a very successful year in the Music department, with winners in different categories at various competitions. We have talented, professional musicians offering music lessons. Students attend 30 lessons per year with the payment thereof divided into 4 instalments. The lessons are 30 minutes per week and the music lessons are attended at the Midstream College studios. Music lessons take place in school hours during non-academic periods such as: L.O., Music, and Art, as well as after school.

The department is in high demand and a limited amount of space is available for 2023. If you are interested in enrolling your child for lessons for 2023, please follow the following link for more information on the webpage.
