YADAH

This week we pray for:

All the young adults from Midstream. The pressure created by studies, new jobs, career choices, relationships and entry into the adult world create many challenges for young adults. We pray for God’s grace, peace, wisdom, and calm in their lives, as well as for good choices, the right guidance, and emotional support. We also pray for the adults who serve as the leaders and role models for these young adults, including parents, lecturers, coaches and anyone who plays a big role in their lives.

MANDELA DAY

“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” ― Nelson Mandela

MCP wishes to join hands with so many other companies and people all over the world to shine a bright light in honour of Mandela Day. Midstream, as a community, is always prepared to give generously, spread love and joy… and in this case, light!  Yes, we want to LITERALLY spread LIGHT to others this year. The Yadah and MCP want to support a nearby old-age home that suffers severely because of load shedding. They do not have the funding for generators or other sources of power during load shedding. The residents spend many hours in the dark because of this. Our goal is to collect  rechargeable lights and to donate them to this old-age home.

Please join us in this venture to lend a hand and spread ‘light’ to elderly people in need. Our goal is to collect at least 100 lights / lanterns to donate.

According to the home’s needs, our suggestion is to purchase lights from the following retailers:

1. LE ROY MERLIN
- Lantern mini USB rechargeable @ R120.
- Emergency light LED rechargeable 1.8 W @ R149

2. Britelighting.co.za
- Magneto Compact Rechargeable LED Lantern @ R129

3. MAKRO
- Camp Master rechargeable emergency light @ R149 (currently on special @ R89).

Should you, your family or your circle of friends decide to sponsor / donate a light, please buy one (or more) and send it to school to your child’s register class on or before 10 August.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. – John 1:5

GOLF

The school would like to give our learners the opportunity to play golf with their friends on Tuesdays. Learners who are therefore able to play nine holes on their own, are welcome to join the golfers on Tuesdays where they will be able to play nine holes under supervision. This arrangement will start on 2 August and will continue until 13 September 2022 (excluding the following date: 9 August). Players must report to the golf course at 14:00.
THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT COACHING SESSIONS but provide learners, who can already play, an opportunity to play. For further information, please contact Mr. Kotze on (012) 661 0724 or email schalkk@midstreamcollege.co.za. (Cost: R60-00 per player per afternoon.) These games will be used as trials to determine our golf teams for the fourth term. All players need to attend a minimum of two of these sessions in order to be considered for the school team. Please contact Mr Kotze in person if this is not possible.

Should there be any learners who would like to start golf, or who require lessons, please enquire at the golf course.
